An extremely cold hardy hybrid of Camellia oleifera that is reputed to be able to withstand prolonged temperatures of -15C. White, scented, anemone-form flowers in October/November. Very vigorous, upright and open habit with a tendency to spread due to the lax nature of the new shoots. Often requires staking as a young plant. Flowers prolifically, and will tolerate semi-shady areas better than most Camallia sasanqua varieties. N.B. Although the plant is very hardy, the flowers are just as susceptible to frost as any other camellia, and will turn brown if the temperature falls below freezing. The leaves may also start to show signs of cold damage at temperatures below about -5C.
